La Fórmula 1 actual no gusta a muchos de los pilotos de la parrilla y de aficionados que siguen las carreras y, por ello, se encuentra en constante cambio. Una de las novedades para esta temporada afecta a los neumáticos. Por una parte, Pirelli ha introducido un nuevo compuesto, el ultrablando, que veremos en circuitos como el de Canadá, y por otra, la FIA ha introducido una nueva regla, según la cual los pilotos deberán elegir semanas antes de cada Gran Premio (14 si es fuera de Europa y 8 si es el caso contrario) 13 juegos de neumáticos, de los tres compuestos elegidos.
